Review: CandleScience

CandleScience is the store that I buy my wax, wicks, and wick stickers from. They also have a large variety of fragrance oils, and other candle making supplies, as well as a large variety of soap making supplies. This review is purely based on the materials I have used and my experience with CandleScience.

Pros

  • Price
  • Shipping
  • Quality
  • Selection
  • Updates
  • Help & Education

Price

While the price of some materials at CandleScience are about equal to other suppliers, they offer bulk products at a discount. Also, shipping prices are the best I’ve seen for the weight of the orders I am making.

Shipping

CandleScience has same day shipping available and the shipping speeds are amazing. If you make your order at the beginning of the week, there is no doubt in my mind that you will receive it by the end of the week, at the latest (with a few exceptions).

Quality

CandleScience supplies some of the best quality products. I use the Golden Brands 464 Soy Wax, which is their basic, wide use, soy wax. I have not had a problem with this wax yet. TBD.

Selection

CandleScience has a multitude of options to choose from. There are 6 varieties of wicks, 3 types of wax, and an abundance of various other materials. With a few exceptions, you will always be able to find what you are looking for at CandleScience.

Updates

CandleScience is great at letting you know when there is an issue. For example, while I have not had an issue with my wax, some people did. When this happened, they made sure to let everyone know what their next steps were, and how to remedy the situation.

Help & Education

The CandleScience website has hundreds of tutorials and FAQs about candle making. They have video lessons and more. If you have any issues, they make it very easy to contact them.

Cons

  • Variety
  • No essential oils
  • Some of their fragrances still have phthalates

Variety

While CandleScience has a very large pool of options, they lack some variety. For example, they have soy, paraffin, and beeswax, but that’s it. They don’t offer any other types of vegetable wax, which is preferred by some people. This is more nit picky than anything, but if you are looking for anything other than the most popular types of wax, you may have to look somewhere else.

No Essential Oils

CandleScience would be 100% perfect if they offered essential oils to go along with their fragrance oils. Being someone who no longer uses fragrance oils, it’s a little bit disappointing. I have to purchase my items from so many different stores, when all I really want is a ‘one-stop shop’ situation.

Phthalates

While most of the fragrance oils at CandleScience do not have phthalates, some of them still do. They have stated that they are actively working on this though, so this review will probably change a bit when that happens.

Final Rating

8/10

I would recommend CandleScience to everyone, not just professional candle or soap makers. They offer kits for beginners and they will be able to help you every step of the way.

Lots of Love!
